Calvary Church Hosts Annual Christmas Lunch

Calvary-Womens-Christmas-2The women’s ministry of Calvary Church will host its annual Christmas Lunch on December 7 at 11 am. The lunch is held at the Harre Union on the campus of Valparaiso University and is open to women as well as girls in middle school or high school.

The Christmas Lunch is ideal for moms and daughters or for a group of girlfriends who want an outing together,” said Victoria Evans-Peasley, director of women’s ministries. “On the other hand, if you’re one woman looking for a place to connect to others, the lunch is great for that, too. We hear lots of stories about longtime friends who met at the Christmas Lunch.” Tickets are available at Calvary Church, 1325 Evans Avenue.

The Christmas Lunch is the premier event of Calvary’s women’s ministry. Every year, volunteers assemble prior to the doors opening to decorate 10-person tables for guests. The tradition is a miniaturized version of neighborhood holiday decoration contests and drive-through holiday light shows. Guests wander through tables sparking with candles and piled high with everything from brightly papered packages to evergreens and bows.

This year’s speaker, Robyn Dykstra, is a storyteller and teacher. She tells both personal stories and the story of Jesus Christ through her presentation, “The Christmas Star.”

Calvary Church, located in Valparaiso, Indiana, is an independent Bible church committed to spreading the word about Jesus Christ throughout Northwest Indiana and the world.
