The morning began with a shotgun start at 8:00 am. Beforehand, players had the opportunity to warm up on the range and practice on the putting green. Jim Pysh, Golf Outing Coordinator for the Dunes Moraine District, said, “The purpose of the event here today is to raise funds for the scouting program for the LaSalle Council. The LaSalle Council stretches all the way from Porter County to the South Bend area, so it’s a pretty large council.”

Proceeds from the event help the LaSalle Council help fulfill the mission of the Boy Scouts of America. Their aim is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetime by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. The LaSalle Counil is a local council of the Boy Scouts of America that serves eight counties across Northern Indiana and Southwest Lower Michigan. The council is divided into geographic areas called districts. There are four districts within the boundaries of LaSalle Council. Throughout the last few years LaSalle Council has helped over hundreds of thousands of young people give back to the community and develop leadership skills.

Pysh continued, “It’s important that we raise funds for the scouts because they are always here when our community needs them We have three camps that we support for the boys, from Michigan City to Michigan.”

The LaSalle Council Boy Scouts of America has numerous different programs that impact the lives of young people of all ages. Whether it’s Cub Scouts or Venturing & Sea Scouts, there is a program that spans every age group and encourages the youth to reach their full potential.

Tastebud Tours was the Eagle event sponsor. Tastebud Tours offers guided walking food tours of San Francisco, Chicago, and New Orleans. They provide for a unique cultural experience of these three cities.

Lynn F. Jaynes, Founder and President of Tastebud Tours, knows all about the positive experience Boy Scouts of America can bring to the lives of young men and women.

Jaynes said, “I was in scouting when I was young man. Boy Scouts has been very important in my life, so anytime someone offers the opportunity to support the Scouts, I can never say no."

In conclusion, the event was a great success! It is truly amazing to see the community come together in support to help create a stronger generation.
