The Express Clydesdales Visit Valparaiso at the Porter County Fair

The Express Clydesdales are coming to Valparaiso on July 30 and will appear at the Porter County Fair on July 31 and August 1, said Jean Phelps, Express franchisee.

As co-chairs of 2010-2011 campaign for United Way of Porter County, Jerry and Jean Phelps, franchisees of Express Employment Professionals are sponsoring and hosting the Clydesdales and will also take this opportunity to raise money for the United Way of Porter County.   Along with visiting the United Way Silent Auction Tent and bidding on great items from local businesses, fair visitors will have an opportunity to take a wagon ride drawn by these “gentle giants” for a donation to the United Way of Porter County.

“We look forward to providing this unique opportunity to the community and to also taking advantage of this exciting time to benefit the United Way,” said Jean Phelps.

Of a rare black and white color, the Express Clydesdales stand 17-18 hands high and weigh over 2,000 pounds each. Their shoes are the size of dinner plates and weigh over  three pounds each. They are the reigning National 8-Horse Hitch and National 6-Horse Hitch Champions.

The Express Clydesdales have participated in many nationally recognized parades and promotional events including the Tournament of Roses Parade, Chicago St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Fiesta Bowl Parade, Orange Bowl Parade, the Calgary Stampede Parade, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the International Finals Rodeo and a Dreamworks Production Company “$1 Million Giveaway.”
