Each weekend we bring you 10 Fun Things to Do in Northwest Indiana so you are never without something to do! This weekend features the Festival of the Lake, a fun movie-themed firefighter meet-and-greet, free yoga, concerts, festivals fundraisers and more!

Hammond’s Festival of the Lakes: Celebrating the Summer with Rides, Food, and Lakeside Entertainment
It's been a season of outdoor commemorations and jubilees and Wednesday night Hammond's Festival of the Lakes burst onto the summertime celebration scene, eager and effervescent. In its 11th year and far from waning, the annual festival is one of the region's most anticipated events. Offering delectables from nearby restaurants and eateries, carnival rides galore, and FREE entertainment, Northwest Indiana has proven once again that it is a hotspot for family oriented festivities.

Come Meet the Portage Fire Department at the Portage IMAX 
On Friday July 18 at the Portage 16 IMAX, Firehouse Subs, Portage will be hosting a meet and greet with the Portage Fire Department to coincide with the release of Planes: Fire & Rescue. From 3pm-5pm that day, kids will be able to color pictures that will be entered into a drawing for awesome gift certificates from the Portage 16 IMAX, Firehouse Subs, Portage, and Dunkin Donuts.

Taltree Arboretum & Gardens Hosts The Neverly Brothers 
Join us for the second concert of our Music in Nature concert season featuring the greatest hits from the 1950's American rockabilly, rock 'n' roll and rhythm and blues pioneers up to the 1964 British Invasion. Mudathlon 2014 
Mudthalon – Northwest Indiana will take place on July 19, 2014 at Graeber Family Farms in Valparaiso, Indiana. The event is widely popular with running enthusiasts across the country. Mudathlon offers an adventurous off-road run that is uniquely challenging and focused on fun from start to finish. Mudathletes will navigate a three-mile course with 40 obstacles, includes the Slide of Life, Cargo Net Climb, and Creek Crossings. Follow that up with a Post-Race party where the beer is flowing, the brats are smoking, and the music is jamming.

Community Hospital Offers Free Yoga Class 
Learn how movement, stretching and strengthening can resolve discomfort with Yoga and Pain Management on July 19 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Community Hospital Fitness Pointe, located at 9950 Calumet Ave., Munster, Ind. Munster Parks' Grape Escape, Wine Festival Returns to Centennial Park 
The Munster Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting its annual Grape Escape event at Centennial Park, Munster, on Saturday, July 19, 2014. For a fee of $5 per person, festival-goers over the age of 21 can enter the tasting area for samples of local wine and beer from Easley Winery, Madison County Winery and Windy Ridge Vineyard & Winery, as well as Cavalier Inn. Additional glasses of wine and beer will be sold by the vendors, likewise bottles will be sold for carry out. A commemorative wine glass for $5 each will be sold as well.

La Porte Firefighters to Rock Fox Park this Weekend 
The La Porte Fire Department will host their annual Rock the Park fundraiser on Saturday, July 19th at Fox Park. We will have a cornhole tournament that starts at 10am, before the beginning of the festival. After that, music is kicked off at 3pm by High Noon, followed by Where's Johnny at 5, Point'n Fingers at 7, and finished off by Justified. This is a kid-friendly event so everyone is welcome!

7th Annual Show Up & Show Out Drill Team & Drumline Competition set for July 19th 
The Michigan City Soul Steppers Drill Team in conjunction with the Summer Fest will host the seventh annual "Show Up & Show Out" Drill Team/ Drumline competition on Saturday July 19 at Michigan City High School. Several teams from various states will be competing for cash & trophy awards. Doors will open at 4 p.m., with the event set to begin at 5 p.m.

Dan Navarro at the Chicago Street Theatre

He also moonlights on occasion as a member of the four-artist revue, Decembersongs, with friends Amy Speace, Jon Vezner and Sally Barris.

Texas Roadhouse - Portage's Headlock for Hunger Event 
On July 20, 2014 get in on an awesome event here at Texas Roadhouse. Be part of Headlock on Hunger! This is a fundraising event for the Portage Food Pantry. The day starts out with a motorcycle ride that starts here at the restaurant at 9am and brings the riders right back at 12pm. Cost is $20 per bike and all of the proceeds go to the Portage Food Pantry.
