Seasons on the Square hosted author Kate Collins for a book signing at their Girls Night Out event, as well as providing wine and refreshments and drawings to win different items. Expressions Salon provided free hand massages as well, which they normally charge $40 an hour at their location in Valpo.
Kate Collins is the author of the "Flower Shop" mystery series - a fictional story which is based on the town of Valparaiso. She was looking for a small town to fit her novels, and Valpo couldn't have fit better.
"My readers and my fans know my work so well, they can come to Valpo and visit the places I write about," Kate said.
Seasons on the Square is also in the series, though called by another name, as many places in her books are.
Donna Phelps, owner of the boutique said, "Seasons on the Square has been here about 20 years. We carry casual clothes, special occasion clothing and 'not-your-daughter-jeans'. We also carry Vera Bradley quilted handbags and Brighten jewelry."
The main range they serve is 35 years and up, but there are handbags and jewelry for every age. They also feature a non-profit in one of their windows as often as possible, to support the community and help promote the efforts of the philanthropic organizations around the area.
