Shop for Holiday Gifts at the Progressive Open House in Chesterton

duneland-chamberDuneland’s shops, boutiques and restaurants are ready to host their 3rd Progressive Open House this Thursday on December 13. Shoppers can enjoy $5 food and drink specials at participating restaurants from 4pm – 7pm, and participating retailers will be offering holiday sales and specials from 4pm – 8pm.

“I love our town!!!” said shopper Amy Redman of last week’s Progressive Open House. “Love the music downtown,” said shopper Mary Dunlap, “it was lots of fun!” Heather Ennis, Executive Director of the Duneland Chamber of Commerce, agreed that the progressive dining and shopping event is the beginning of a new Duneland tradition. “It’s been great to see shoppers out and about in town, supporting local businesses this holiday season,” says Ennis.

For the Progressive Open House this Thursday, Sage Restaurant, Gelsosomos Pizzeria, and Hooligan’s Pub & Grub will all be offering $5 drinks and appetizers from 4pm-7pm, and the following East-Side Chesterton shops will be staying open late and offering holiday specials from 4pm-8pm: Molly Bea’s Ingredients; Nature’s Cupboard; and Regal Rabbit Gourmet Kitchen Store.

On the West Side of Chesterton, shoppers will enjoy $5 specials from the following: Ben’s SoftPretzels (2-for-$5 freshly baked pretzels in the Chamber parking lot); Tonya’s Patisserie ($5 “Nutcracker Sweets”); Rival’s “Whining” & Dining (located in Westchester Lanes, and offering $5 strombolis or calzones); Red Cup Café & Deli (2-for$5 lattes and $5 tomato bisque soup and ½ toasted cheese sandwich); Uncle Joe’s Bar & Grill ($5 drink specials and select appetizers); Lucrezia ($5 glasses of wine and select appetizers); and Popolano’s ($5 glasses of wine and select appetizers, including toasted ravioli).

East Wind Acupuncture will be offering free 5-minute yoga sessions and Butler Winery will host free wine tasting as interludes between shopping the following West-side Chesterton shops: Ashley’s Jewelry by Design (free jewelry cleaning); Chelle’s; Chesterton Art Center (including Rita Jackson, Sculptor); Contessa’s Bridal & Accessories; Di la Bella Salon; Flower Cart; Good to Go by Lucrezia; House of Berggren; Indian Summer Boutique; Stephanie Swanson Jewelry Design Fine Art Gallery & Gifts; Sweetville by Flower Cart and Yesterday’s Treasures.

The Duneland Chamber of Commerce, located at 220 Broadway in Chesterton, will be staying open from 4pm – 8pm during the Progressive Open House on Thursday, December 13. Those interested in learning more about the event are invited to visit the Chamber for hot cider, cookies and maps which include a suggested route for the shopping and dining tour.

The first ten guests to visit the Chamber for tour maps will each receive a $5 Chamber Gift Certificate, which may be redeemed for food, drink or products during the course of the evening. While shopping, guests are encouraged to look for retailers’ and restaurants’ “Shop Local” rack cards, which feature a QR code that may be scanned for a chance to win a $50 Chamber Gift Certificate. Guests may scan codes at each location along the shopping and dining tour, increasing the chances of winning the prize.
