European Market Brings Ambiance Early to Chesterton

The Chesterton/Duneland Chamber of Commerce would like to announce the kick off for the 2010 season of Chesterton’s European Market is May 1, 2010.chestertons-european-market The European Market has extended its regular 22 week season by four weeks to bring a quality shopping experience to Duneland even earlier this year. The Market will be open every Saturday from 8am to 2pm, closed only the weekend of the Oz Festival, September 18, 2010.

Over 70 vendors have registered for the European Market’s Grand Opening Day. All the old favorites are returning this year for the entire season, including The Cheese People and the fine Swiss pastries of Bit of Swiss. Froehlich’s flavorful jams and the Wakarusa Dime Store’s Giant Jelly Beans will also be fairs available May 1. Be sure to have lunch in downtown May 1, either at one of many food vendors such as fresh pierogi and the ever-popular tamales or at Tonya’s Patisserie across the street or the Red Cup Café’s new downtown location.

Entertainment is always available at the European Market. Different live artisan demonstrations will be held every Saturday in Thomas Centennial Park from 10am to 1pm this year, featuring artists from the Chesterton Art Center performing their craft, ranging from weaving to glass blowing. Live musical entertainment is available from 10am to 1pm, and regular updates on who will be playing can be found on the European Market’s Facebook page.

Chesterton’s European Market is an outdoor, rain or shine, farmer’s and artisan’s market open every consecutive Saturday starting from the beginning of May to the end of October from 8am to 2pm at Broadway and 3rd Street in historic downtown Chesterton.
