Swinging VHS Jazz Concert

From Ray Charles to the Rolling Stones, the VHS Jazz Band certainly hosted an eclectic event last Saturday night, to say the least. Three separate bands played, all covering different versions of popular songs, as well as an impromptu happy birthday to a woman named Ruth.
Directors Dan Pritchett and Miguel Rosario-Vega continually called people out to the dance floor, and the crowd happily obliged, practicing their foxtrot and swing dances to songs like “I Can’t Get No(Satisfaction)” and “What I’d Say”. It was a healthy mix of elderly groups moving slowly across the floor and the younger generations dancing like no one was watching. The band did a phenomenal job recreating new songs with a jazz twist and pulling together the best of the old jazz classics. The event ended with “Get Happy”, a perfect high-powered jazz tune to end the night on.
