Purdue Glee Club to Perform at Inaugural Ball

Purdue-Glee-Club-2013The Varsity Glee Club of Purdue University of West Lafayette, Indiana will be in Washington, D.C. to perform at an Inaugural Ball. While in the area, this highly entertaining group will perform a concert at the College of Southern Maryland in the Theatre on the La Plata Campus, Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 7 p.m. This group performed a Washington, D.C. tour just last year while senior Billy Thiedeman of Waldorf, Maryland was part of the group. If you missed their performance at New Life Church then, you certainly don't want to miss it at CSM this year. If you attended, we think you'll agree that it's an event to witness again and again.

Advance ticketing is available online only at a cost of $15 (plus surcharge) per ticket for all ages. Remaining tickets will be sold at the door for $20 (cash and check only). This concert is co-sponsored by the CSM Theatre Club and the Chesapeake Choral Arts Society.

Founded in 1893, this select ensemble has entertained on behalf of Purdue University for campus, community, state, national and international events, averaging between 50-60 appearances each year. Embodying the spirit of service above self, the men of the Purdue Varsity Glee Club represent different backgrounds and hometowns across the country, consistently maintaining a high level of academic excellence with majors ranging from engineering to education to management to biological sciences.

This dynamic musical troupe employs a versatile repertoire including gospel, vocal jazz, swing, contemporary hits, romantic ballads, classical choral selections, barbershop, folk melodies, patriotic standards, familiar opera choruses, country and novelty tunes, and utilizes small groups and outstanding soloists to further enhance each show.

Under the direction of William E. Griffel, the Purdue Varsity Glee Club continues to share a sound all its own through one-of-a-kind arrangements in tailor-made performances for audiences of all ages.
