The Energy Commission – Consistently Inconsistent

Energy-CommissionThe Energy Commission is kind of a big deal in Austria. A single from their yet to be released album “Consistently Inconsistent” was hand picked for leading telecom provider A1’s national television ad and it isn’t the first time the local band has gone global.

The band is well known for their visual stylings. On stage it’s a full on “backyard wrestling version of a Cirque du Soliel show”. Their music videos are produced by frontman Jay Weinberg (readers will remember Weinberg who was arrested for protesting gas prices in 2008) and have reached viral status (nearly 1 million collective views) and earned them fans the world over. You’ll see their logo on shirts and posters all over town and even tattooed on many of their “Commissioners” skin as a sign of solidarity for a culture that “Bleeds Pink”. Their music of course stands on it’s own. Energy Commission’s Danielle Cales and her smokey evocative vocal won over the hearts and ears of A1 to represent the company in an ad that alludes to the companies long standing relationship with their clients. A reminder that true friendship never ends.

A1 is known as a tastemaker in Austria for popular music. Many of the artists they have discovered and used for their commercials have went on to substantial success. Pomplamoose, The XX and most notably Ellie Goulding; who saw her single skyrocket to number 2 on the UK pop charts after being placed in an A1 advertisement.

The Energy Commission have already seen a fair amount of traffic for their single and are proud that it will be a part of their new album. Never resting on laurels - they recently shot a music video for their full version of the song (a cover of “Time Is On My Side”) in Chicago and around Valparaiso. Both the music video and commercial can be seen on their website www.theEnergyCommission.com Both the commercial and the music video have over 1,000 views each in their first week online.

“Time Is On My Side” and two other songs (“Dirty Secret” and “Clean Up on Aisle 18”) from their album “Consistently Inconsistent” are a available now as a bonus for those who pre-order the album. The Energy Commission has been playing the major circuit of venues in Chicago, headlining the Double Door, Cubby Bear, Metro, and House of Blue already this year. November 9th they will have limited number of pre-release albums available on their unique Rubik’s Cube USB drive at Valparaiso’s Memorial Opera House.
