10 Fun Things To Do This Weekend in Northwest Indiana: Mardi Gras Event, Express Dress, and Wild Game Buffet

Mardi Gras Gala
Saint Paul Catholic School is hosting a Mardi Gras Gala Auction on Saturday, March 5, 2011, at County Line Orchard. The evening begins at 6 pm and consists of dinner, cash bar, silent & live auctions, raffle events, $1 auctions and our Bubbly and Bling event, where participants can purchase a glass of champagne, each glass entering them into a chance to win some great pieces of jewelry courtesy of Martin Binder Jewelers.

Spaghetti Dinner
Nativity of Our Savior School is kicking off a year of fundraising for the current 7th graders who will graduate from the 8th grade in 2012. The students are raising money for their trip to Washington D.C. with an all-you-can-eat Spaghetti Dinner.

Pint-Culvers-CustardExpress Dress and Accessories
The HOPE Club and Life Skills Special Education Program of Valparaiso High School is sponsoring "Express Dress and Accessories" on March 5, 2011, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm in the VHS cafeteria. Students families who have dresses to sell or who are in need of dresses and accessories for a prom or semi-formal dance are encouraged to attend. Snacks and refreshments will be provided and raffles for gift cards from local businesses will be given away.

Give a Pint, Get a Pint
Culvers of Valparaiso is hosting a Blood Drive on Friday, March 4, 2011 from 3 to 7 pm. Come to donate and receive one pint of Culver's frozen custard.

Wild Game Dinner Buffet
The 25th Annual Wild Game Dinner Buffet at Don Quijote's will be held March 6th, 2011. This unique event features a variety of dishes, such as Squid, Octopus, Frog Legs, Turtle, Alligator, Buffalo, Emu, Venison, Bear, Rabbit, Wild Boar, Kangaroo, Elk, Antelope, Duck, Phesant, Quail, and many more.

Appalachian Craft Fair
Saturday, March 5 from 9 a.m. to 2 to p.m., Portage First United Methodist Church is hosting a Red Bird Missions Craft Fair to give you the opportunity to enjoy quality Appalachian crafts.

“Go Green” Spring Art Show
The newly remodeled Southern Shore Art Association is proud to announce their "GO GREEN" Spring show. Over 70 artist members are being asked to create art work with the theme of "Go Green" in mind. Whether it's the color green, a depiction of earth friendly art, or maybe a portrait of someone "green" with envy, it's up to the artists to interpret their vision.

Portage Perks Workshop
The Portage Chamber is having a Portage Perks Workshop on Friday, March 4th at the Portage Township YMCA in their computer classroom. Bill Kaufman will be going over how to create multifunctioning spreadsheets.

Beginning Basket Weaving
Margie Warner will be conducting a beginning basket weaving class. Participants will be making a small berry basket with a bale handle. Size is 6x8 with a twined bottom and a choice of colors for embellishment.
