SouthPoint Cruise In
The Cruise In continues this Friday night, with classic cars, live music, food from Suzie's Cafe and a beer garden from Leroy's. Hosted at Valparaiso's Harley Davidson on Route 30, this free event offers fun for all!

Neil Simon's "Fools" at Chicago Street Theatre
The plot centers around a school teacher who arrives in a village that has been cursed with chronic stupidity for 200 years. It is his job to break the curse or face a life of stupidity himself. Join us for an opening night gala with the cast and crew on Friday, July 8. Hosted at ZaZa Ristorante Italiano in Valparaiso, everyone in the audience is invited to join the cast and crew for complimentary appetizers and a cash bar.

Painter of the Dunes Show Opens at Chesterton Art Center
The Chesterton Art Center will be showing the works of Beverly Shores artist Jeannene Anderson from July 1 through August 8, with an Opening Reception on Sunday, July 10 from 2 – 4 pm. As former president of the Southern Shore Art Association she helped found the “Uptown Arts District” in Michigan City, which she hopes helps bring awareness to the arts in the NW In area. “To me, creating is as necessary as air is to breathe. Every glance I take, I study the world around me and take mental notes. I am inspired by the simple beauty that nature has to offer.

Texas Hold 'Em Fundraising Tournament for the Viking Quarterback Club
The Valparaiso VFW Post #988 is proudly hosting a Texas Hold'Em fundraising tourament for the Viking Quarterback Club for the upcoming 2011 season! The tournament will take place on Saturday, July 9th, 2011 at the VFW Post #988 at 705 Roosevelt Road in Valparaiso.

Kiwanis-Keys-to-the-CityKiwanis Pianos in Downtown Valpo
Last year, downtown Valpo was filled with the musical tickling of the ivories as the Valparaiso Noon Kiwanis installed pianos around the square. The project was well received so on July 7, the pianos will return to various downtown locations through July 22.

Nuno Felting at Lubeznik Center for the Arts
Learn the art of Nuno Felting, a wet felt-making technique where fine layers of wool are attached to a sheer fabric. Students will create a small artwork suitable for framing and a scarf.

Register for the 2011 Popcorn Panic
The Valparaiso Department of Parks and Recreation is accepting registration for the 2011 Popcorn Panic 5-Mile run and 5K Walk, which will be held September 10, 2011 at 7:30 a.m. As one of the area’s best races, the Panic offers a challenging course and a scenic tour of Valparaiso.
