"Learning to Fly" Opens Labor Day Weekend at rTrail Collective Edge
As the show's curators explain, "Teachers have given these students wings to fly, and now is an opportunity for us to marvel at that transition from 'student artist' to simply 'artist.''" So, we invite you to join us as we celebrate both teacher and student. This fresh, vibrant Art will be for sale by Silent Auction. Early Bird Bidding opens September 1, 2011 at 4pm for VIP Event attendees.

Portage Community Market Continues
The market, which takes place every Saturday until October 1, from 8 am to 1 pm, offers items from local vendors, including produce, handmade decor, and more. There are also games for children, a blowup slide and live musical entertainment available each week throughout the market season.

Celebrate Communiversity Day at Valparaiso University!
The Northwest Indiana community is invited to join Valpo students, faculty, staff and alumni in the second annual Communiversity Day for the Valpo vs. Franklin football game, as well as the Marriott Volley Brawl, a pregame tailgate barbecue, fun games, family-friendly activities, and a fireworks show following the football game.

NewDay Foundation Festival: Assisting and Giving “HOPE” to Cancer Patients
Come join us in a day of celebration and “HOPE”. The NewDay Foundation is having a festival at the LaPorte County Fairgrounds September 3rd, 2011. Our foundation brings Teddy Bears to sick children, boxes of "HOPE" to chemo patients on their first day of therapy, and offers music scholarships to high school seniors who are pursuing a career in music.

Bike Ride to Kouts
Join the Calumet Crank Club on a 35-mile bike ride along the quiet back roads of Porter County between Valparaiso and Kouts. We'll leave promptly at 8 am from the east end of the Valparaiso Walmart parking lot.
