10 Fun Things To Do This Weekend in Northwest Indiana: Halloween Fun, Bryce Drew’s First Game, and Spaghetti Dinner

Have A Hauntingly Good Time at County Line Orchard
Dress up in your spookiest costume and join County Line Orchard at their free Annual Trick or Treat event. Bring your little goblins down to County Line Orchard for an exciting night of music, fun, and treats! In our newly finished barn, we have over 100 sponsor tables passing out candy and goodies.

Star Plaza Hosts "Captain’s Crypt" Halloween Costume & Dance Party
Known for its festive blow-out bashes, Star Plaza is set to host “Captain’s Crypt” – a high-energy Halloween Costume and Dance Party sponsored by Captain Morgan, which will feature DJ Dominator, James Alexander and Chris Trojin – in a battle of the DJs! Additionally, the event will feature Star Plaza’s annual Costume Contest with a $1,000 CASH PRIZE for best costume, sponsored by Captain Morgan. Second and third place prizes will be sponsored by Star Plaza.

 

Follow Along With Bryce's First Game Saturday Night!
Be sure to follow along with Bryce Drew’s first game as head coach of the Valparaiso men’s basketball team this Saturday. The Crusaders will be taking on Hillsdale in their first exhibition game beginning at 7:05 p.m. this Saturday, Oct. 29, and you can keep track of all the happenings right here at www.valpoathletics.com with a live interactive chat that night.

Halloween Fun at the YMCA
Come celebrate Halloween at the Valpo Y! A funtastic time will be had, with tons of activities, including a Haunted Swamp, Cake Walk, Costume Contest, Dyno-Jump, Haunted Hallway, crafts, a storyteller, games, and more! Only $5.00 per person! Get your tickets at the event!

Portage Community Theatre SCARYOKE Karaoke Night
Portage Community Theatre will be hosting a karaoke night on Saturday, October 29th. Tickets for this event will be $10 at the door, price includes food. There will also be a cash bar. Costumes encouraged!

PNC Presents Halloween Haunted Trail
The Purdue University North Central Dean's Leadership Group will host a Haunted Trail at the PNC Westville campus on Oct. 27 and 28 from 7 to 11 p.m. each night. The trail is open to the public. Admission is $5. The Haunted Trail will present frightening thrills for high school and college students and young adults.

Freaky Fun at El Salto's Halloween Party
Join El Salto for a spooky good time at their Halloween Party! Held at their Chesterton location, the party will kick off at 9 pm on Saturday, October 29, ending around 1 am. Wear your best costume and enter the Costume Contest for a chance to win! 1st place wins $150, 2nd place wins $50. Participants must check in by 9 pm. A DJ will also provide music during the party. And at midnight, a freaky drawing for prizes will take place!

Want More Candy? Don't Miss the Sterling House After Party!
Sterling House® of Valpariso is hosting an After Party "Want More Candy" on Friday, October 28th, to follow Valpo's downtown Fall Festival. There will be food, games, and prizes for costumes. Our judges will be Sterling House's own residents!

Community Invited to Trunk R’ Treat Spectacular
Preparations are underway for the first annual Trunk R’ Treat planned for Sunday, October 30th from 6-8 pm at Immanuel Lutheran Church’s parking lot. Besides trick-or-treating to over 40 cars, there will be free hot dogs, popcorn and hot chocolate. The festivities will also include a jack-o-lantern carving contest, as well as prizes for the best costume and the best decorated car trunk. All candy passed out to the children will be provided by Immanuel Lutheran Church’s Sunday school program.

Spaghetti Dinner Will Raise Money for Substance Abuse Treatment Provider
The Chesterton United Methodist Church will be hosting a spaghetti dinner on Friday October 28th, 2011, from 4:30-6:30 pm. All proceeds from this dinner will benefit Frontline Foundations, a 501c3 non profit organization. Frontline is a faith based, age specific substance abuse treatment center, with offices in Chesterton & Valparaiso.
