Don Quijote to Again Host Benefit for Housing Opportunities
It is time once again for the annual Housing Opportunities Benefit! This benefit raises money to help support and shelter many families in need of assistance in Porter County. 100% of the proceeds from this benefit go to Housing Opportunities. The event includes: dinner, live music, door prizes, raffles and a silent auction.

Civic Dance Center to Produce Original Choreography of "The Nutcracker" and Winter Showcase
Each year, the Civic Dance Center in Portage produces an original choreography of "The Nutcracker" ballet, along with a winter showcase presenting tap, jazz, and hip hop for the holiday season. This year's presentation will be on Saturday, December 17th, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at Portage High School. This year, the cast will consist of roughly 100 people, including CDC dance students, moms, dads, sisters and brothers as well as professional dancers.

Celebrate the Holidays with the Welcome Mat
Find great gifts to finish off your holiday shopping while supporting fair trade industries! On Saturday, receive a free handcrafted holiday card with your $10 purchase. On Sunday, get a free recycled bag when you purchase $10 or more! Fair trade means that the artisan that made a good is paid fair, livable wages. This boosts the artisan's local economy and equips them with the tools to break free from the cycle of poverty.

Help Support the Bridegroom Family of Chesterton, Indiana
5 year old Phoenix Bridegroom is fighting a battle with Leukemia, struggling to regain full neurologic function and undergoing chemotherapy. The family needs your support! A Chili Supper Benefit will be held this Friday at Chesterton United Methodist Church. $5 per person gets all-you-can-eat chili, drinks and dessert! There will also be a bake sale. Carry out is available!

Finish Your Holiday Shopping at the Engstrom Jewelers Designer Trunk Show and Open House
Engstrom Jewelers will be hosting its annual Designer Trunk Show and open house this weekend. The event will kickoff with the amazing Designer Trunk Show on Friday, December 9. The Designer Trunk Show will be host to beautiful designer pieces, ranging in price from $100 to $50,000, at the incredible savings up to 50% off. An event you surely do not want to miss! The open house continues throughout the weekend with extended shopping hours and beverages and hors d 'oeuvres.

Spend an Evening with Santa at the Portage YMCA
Surprise the kids with an entire “Evening with Santa”! The Portage Township YMCA preschool academy is inviting the public to this exciting event that the kids will never forget. Enjoy games, a sundae bar in Santa’s Sweet Shop, pictures with Santa, crafts and more. Pictures of Santa will take place from 5:30 to 7:30. Children can get their nails painted, hair temporarily streaked and temporary tattoo’s in the Peppermint Palace. If paying at the door, bring a canned good for the Portage Food Pantry and receive a free desert!

Valpo Parks Touch a Truck Toys for Tots Toy Drive
The Valparaiso Parks Department along with Dunes Leathernecks Detachment Marine Corps League and Toys for Tots is proud to be hosting a Touch a Truck Toys for Tots Toy Drive. Kids of all ages will enjoy the opportunity to explore their favorite big rigs. Police cars, fire trucks, V-Line busses, emergency vehicles, and more! Plus, free refreshments, and those that donate will be entered for a chance to win a prize!

Uptown Art District's First Annual Holiday Culinary Walk
On Saturday, December 10, the Center will present the fine art of pizza during the first Holiday Culinary Walk benefiting Michigan City’s Mainstreet Association. Fans of art and food alike are invited to sample local fare from 3-7 p.m. at venues throughout the District, extending from Lubeznik Center, south along Franklin Street. Michigan City Mainstreet Association has additional "Winter Wonderland" experiences planned throughout the Arts District, including ice carving, stained glass tours, photos with Santa and horse-drawn wagon rides ─ making the holiday season merry and bright in Michigan City.

CEF of Northwest Indiana to Host Holiday Open House
Please join us for the CEF Holiday Open House on December 10, 2011, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Take a break from your holiday shopping and meet the staff, explore the children's devotional books, and enjoy refreshments and learn more about how CEF is serving the children in this community!
