10 Fun Things To Do This Weekend in Northwest Indiana: Bridal Show, Zumbathon, Bean Bag Tournament, and Boat Show

In addition to getting lots of great ideas and seeing the latest trends, you will be able to save time and money while also having fun! Hannah's Hope Zumbathon
Hannah’s Hope will be holding their first annual Zumba-thon on Friday, January 27th. Hannah’s Hope is a local charity started by Portage High School graduate Mike Martinez. Hannah’s Hope raises money for other charities that work with children’s brain injuries and illnesses. The cost of the event is $20 and will start promptly at 7:00 pm with the doors opening at 6:45 pm. Each participant will participate in a Zumba class that is instructed by Estudio Z instructors, receive a Hannah’s Hope t-shirt and a bottle of water.

Chicago Street’s ‘Goat’ Opens Jan. 27
“The Goat,” also known as “Who is Sylvia?”, is a bold play that details Martin, a middle-aged architect whose scandalous confession to his wife, Stevie, is sure to end his marriage and career. The story centers around Stevie’s reaction to the dark secret her husband reveals.

Knights of Columbus to Host Bean Bag Tournament
The Knights of Columbus will be holding a bean bag tournament on January 28. This is a double elimination Contest. Winners bracket plays best 2 out of 3 matches, Losers bracket plays single game. All ACA rules will apply to this tournament. Drinks and food will be available for purchase that day. Prize money will be awarded to the winner! Guaranteed minimum 1st place prize of $100!

PNC American Sign Language Club Coffeehouse on January 27
The Purdue University North Central American Sign Language Club will host its first ASL Coffeehouse of the semester on Friday, Jan 27. The event is open to ASL students as well as community members and children are welcome to attend with a parent or adult. This is a fun, casual event for all to enjoy through participation or as an observer. Participants are asked to use ASL providing an ideal opportunity to practice ASL to better communicate with friends, co-workers or family members. Coffee, food and drink may be ordered throughout the evening.

Annual Northwest Indiana Porter County Boat Show
Check out Erwin Marine's new line this weekend at the Porter County Boat Show on January 28 and 29! Noon to 8 pm Friday, 10 am to 6 pm Saturday, and 10 am to 5 pm Sunday, vendors from all around the tri-state Northwest Indiana region will gather to offer the year's deepest savings on winter purchases in new and new non-current boats. Free entrance!

Family Movie Night at the YMCA
The Y will be hosting a family movie night this Friday, January 27, 2012, at 6pm. The movie of the evening is Jim Carrey’s Mr. Popper’s Penguins. Everyone is welcome and popcorn is included.

Don Quijote to Host Benefit for Phil Hatfield
Don Quijote Restaurante will host a benefit for Phil Hatfield on Sunday, January 29, 2012, from noon to 3:00 pm. The night will feature a buffet, raffles, a live auction and cash bar. 100% of all the money collected will benefit Phil Hatfield’s medical expenses, resulting from his struggles with cancer.

Valparaiso High School Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2012 to be Inducted
The Valparaiso High School Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2012 will be inducted in a ceremony at the Strongbow Inn Banquet Center on Saturday, January 28, 2012. The following athletes will be honored in this year’s induction: Mark Allen, Charles E. “Skip” Bird, Ellison (Tipton) Carter, Shannon (Swanson) Dominco, Thomas Hampson, Collette (Douglas) Huffman, Adolph (Adie) Jankowski, Greg Kirby, Sarah (Stricklett) Mosher, Rebekah (Porter) Peterson, The Reggie Family, Amy (Shurr) Agema, and Sue (Watts) Collins.
