Mudathlon: A "Muckin' Good Time"
Mudthalon – Northwest Indiana, in its third year sweeping the region, will take place on July 21, 2012 at Graeber Family Farms in Valparaiso, Indiana. The event is widely popular with running enthusiasts across the country. Mudathlon offers an adventurous off-road run that is uniquely challenging and focused on fun from start to finish. Mudathletes will navigate a three-mile course with 40 obstacles, includes the Mudslide, Cargo Net Climb, and Creek Crossings. Follow that up with a Post-Race party where the beer is flowing, the brats are smoking, and the music is jamming.

The Porter County Fair kicks off July 19, running through July 28th! Catch the first weekend of the fair, with tons of fun events taking place including Luke Bryan in concert, Ricochet and the Porter County Fair Queen Pageant, Larry the Cable Guy, rides, food, 4-H exhibits and so much more!
Valpo Voice Sing-Off, Party in the Park
The Parks Foundation invites you to be part of an outdoor one-of-a-kind event : Party in the Park on Saturday, July 21 from 7 to 11 PM! This new summer social event is sure to be a good time for all who attend, and it’s for a good cause. Party in the Park features "The Under Cover Band" from Chicago, hors d'oeuvres, beverages and friends; all under the stars at Butterfly Meadow Park.
Sidewalk Sales Days Return to Downtown
Looking for a shopping experience in Downtown LaPorte this weekend? Search no further! Sidewalk Sales will be taking place this Saturday, July 21 from 10am to 5pm. Downtown retailers, artists and crafters will be showcasing goods along the sidewalks of Lincolnway, Jefferson Avenue and State Street.
Culver's to Host First Open Mic
Culver's of Valparaiso invites you to join them on Sunday, July 22nd, for their first Open Mic Night, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. All local talent welcome! Please keep in mind that all performances MUST be family oriented, and performers will receive a special Culver's treat!
HannaFest Celebrates Heritage, History
The citizens of Hanna invite everyone to come to HannaFest on July 20 and 21. Stroll the quiet streets of Hanna and enjoy the town-wide garage sales, arts and crafts, food and drink, music, and many other activities. There will be lots of activities for kids, including Squiggles and Smaxy the Clown, kite-flying demonstrations, face-painting, a Moon Walk, a K9 demonstration, and a coloring contest.
Mara Wible Jewelry Classes
Mara Wible will be offering 3 new jewelry classes at the Chesterton Art Center. This weekend, catch the Box Chain Bracelet class, based on the European chain maille weave and the Basic Peyote Bracelet, a beginning "off-loom" bead-weaving class.
Getting to Know Michael Kasper
Fifteen years ago Michael Kasper was born a supposedly healthy newborn. Soon after his birth he was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect called transposition of the great arteries where the aortic artery and the pulmonary artery were reversed on the heart. Many friends and family have decided to have a fund raiser to help ease the financial burden of medical payments and the many more trips to help Michael's health. Please join us at the American Legion in Portage on July 21st from 2 pm to 11:30 pm.
Independent Cat Society To Hold Annual Book Sale
The Independent Cat Society will hold its annual Book Sale on July 20th and 21st from 9am to 5pm. We will have used books, magazines, CDs, DVDs, posters and more. We will have raffles with wonderful prizes, book signings by local authors, Kids Korner with crafts for the kids, as well as story hours. There will also be guest appearances by some of our wonderful ICS cats and so much more!
Chicken & Pork Chop Fundraiser for Pines Village
Pines Village will be hosting a Nelson’s Port-a-Pit chicken & pork chop fundraiser, Saturday, July 21 from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the Kmart parking lot at the corner of Calumet Avenue & Vale Park Road in Valparaiso. A half chicken or a pork chop will be sold for $6.00. A bag of potato chips and fresh baked cookies are also available for $1.00 each.
