This weekend there are some great things just waiting for you to attend them. The MegaBeatles are performing at the Memorial Opera House, the HUB of Innovation is hosting a ribbon cutting, Purdue Calumet is hosting a youth sports clinic, and more!

1. Lights Up Sound Down at the Portage IMAX.
Lights Up Sound Down Family Day is a special movie showing for kids with sensory issues/special needs, with the lights up higher than normal and the sound turned down to medium. This creates an amazing opportunity for families to be able to visit a movie theater, especially if their child is intimidated by loud noises or bright lights. After the movie, join us for lunch, crafts, and activities for all ages up in the balcony at Portage 16 IMAX.

2. Miss Great Lakes Pageant
The Miss Great Lakes and Miss Kankakee Valley Scholarship Pageants will be held Saturday, January 18th for any young woman ages 13-24 who live, work or attend school in the counties of Porter, La Porte, St. Joe, Fulton, Starke or Marshall Counties.

 3. MegaBeatles at the Memorial Opera House
Coming to the Memorial Opera House on January 17, 2015, the concert to end all concerts! The MegaBeatles will take the stage. MegaBeatles is a talented group of musicians from Northwest Indiana/Chicago that recreate the music of the Beatles with precision, passion and love! The band features members of both the Chris and Lou and and the CrawPuppies.

4. Wine Winter Wonderland
Experience a magical evening of wine, dining, and fun. Taste a variety of wines and enjoy a roaring fire. Dine on Southern Italian cuisine while listening to live entertainment featuring Jim Post. There are two dates to choose from: Saturday January 17, 2015 and January 24, 2014.

5. Disposable Theatre's NO LIMITS Comedy Show at Chicago Street Theatre
Audiences can get the cure for the "Winter Blues" with beer tastings, soft pretzel, chocolate treats and a healthy dose of laughter from Disposable Theatre's NO LIMITS Comedy show Saturday, January 17 at Chicago Street Theatre. The improvisational comedy group has been playing to packed houses all over Northwest Indiana and this is a great chance to catch them live at Chicago Street's intimate Edith B. Wood Studio Theatre where they have gained quite a following over the past six months.

 6. Purdue Calumet Youth Clinic
Head Coach Heather Tarter and the Purdue University Calumet softball team will be holding a three separate clinics at the Fitness and Recreation Center on Saturday, Jan. 17. Clinics include a Youth All-Skills Camp for children in grades 2-8, a Youth Pitching and Catching Clinic for children grades 2-8, and a High School Pitching and Catching clinic for teens grades 9-12.

7. HUB of Innovation Ribbon Cutting
A formerly vacant building in downtown Hammond is being revitalized and celebrated with its grand opening and ribbon cutting on Friday, January 16, 2015 at 2:00pm. The HUB of Innovation, at 5233 Hohman Avenue, is an extension of the Hammond Innovation Center, in partnership between the Redevelopment Commission and the Hammond Development Corporation.

8. Great Entertainment at the Blue Chip Casino, Hotel, and Spa
For live music in January, visit It's Vegas Baby! on Thursdays and Saturdays and Rocks lounge Friday through Sunday. This weekend Libido Funk Circus plays on Saturday, January 18 at It's Vegas, Baby!. At Rocks Lounge The Bigger Picture Band plays on Friday, January 17 and on Saturday, January 18, see Piano Man!

9. Auditions at Towle Theatre
Since 2010, the Towle Youth Theater Ensemble, or TYTE, has been wowing NWI audiences with productions such as the Northwest Indiana Premiere of Jason Robert Brown's 13, Anne of Green Gables, Laughing Stock & Clue the Musical. The next TYTE production will be 2 one acts War at Home – a drama and It's not you, It's Me - a comedy. The shows will run March 27-19, April 3-4. Auditions are Saturday, January 17 from 10am-4pm and Sunday, January 18 from 12pm-4pm (Appointments scheduled every 10 minutes) Please call 219-937-8780 to schedule an appointment.

10. Meet the Vikes Night at Valparaiso High School
Come out and support the Lady Vikings on Friday, January 16th at VHS. All elementary students will be admitted FREE of charge.
