LCA Hosts 2nd Annual Karaoke Contest During October First Friday - Friday, Michigan City
Friday, October 6, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM (CDT) Lubeznik Center for the Arts (LCA) invites you to let your voice be heard at the 2nd Annual Karaoke Contest presented by the Rotary Club of Michigan City. Ten contestants will sing their hearts out for $250. Become a contestant by emailing your name and song selection to lance_werner@hotmail.com. Make sure to bring your entourage to vote for you or just come out and support the performers. And, if the Halloween spirits inspire you, feel free to dress your part! Contest begins at 6pm, but the Karaoke mic will be open from 5:30 to 6.

Griffith's Oktoberfest Friday - Sunday, Griffith
Griffith Oktoberfest is Oct 6-8. Large selection of German Biers plus Oktoberfest beers from Griffith Breweries New Oberpfalz Brewing, Pokro Brewing Company, Inc., Wildrose Brewing Company . Lots of German music and food and plenty of stuff for the kids.

Aaron Lewis at the Horseshoe Casino - Friday, Hammond
The Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter made a name for himself as a founding member and frontman of Staind. The band released seven studio albums and is known for hit songs like "It’s Been Awhile" and "Fade." While Aaron Lewis has been performing solo acoustic shows since he was a teenager, it was in 2011 that he released his first solo EP, "Town Line" and made the jump to country music. The record featured the song "Country Boy" with George Jones, Charlie Daniels and Chris Young.

Elvis FANtasy Fest to benefit Porter County Special Olympics - Friday - Sunday, Portage
The 25th Annual Elvis FANtasy Fest held at Woodland Park Community Building, Portage, IN will kick off on Friday night, October 6th with a Welcome Party, hosted by local crowd pleaser, Quentin Flagg. New this year is a youth talent show which will run from 6-7 pm followed by a rock review “Raised on Rock” featuring our headliners. Saturday kicks off with an opening ceremony at 11 a.m. followed by Round I of the Elvis Tribute Artist Contest. EFF is proud to partner Elvis Presley Enterprises by holding one of their preliminary contests for the 2018 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Contest to be held in Memphis as part of Elvis Week 2018. This year, EFF welcomes over 20 Elvis Tribute Artists coming from as far away as California and Texas who will compete at the two day contest to win a spot next year in Memphis. Special guest, Charlie Smith will be one of the judges and also share some stories about her time on several movies that she appeared in with Elvis.

NWI Food Truck Fest Partnering with Crown Point Oktoberfest - Saturday, Crown Point
Mayor David Uran and Crown Brewing will be hosting the tenth annual Crown Point Oktoberfest, on Saturday, October 7, from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. on S Main St. between Hack Ct. and Walnut St. This year the Northwest Indiana Food Truck Festival, which recently hosted their inaugural event in June will be joining Oktoberfest with 12 or more food trucks. The event will also feature a chili cook off, pie eating contest, live music, a bags tournament, and free activities for children.

Comedian Bill Engvall Comes to Blue Chip - Saturday, Michigan City
Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum-selling recording artist and comedian Bill Engvall comes to Blue Chip Casino, Hotel & Spa, Michigan City, Indiana on Saturday, October 7 for 6 pm and 9 pm shows in the Stardust Event Center. Tickets, starting at $40, go on sale September 9 at ticketmaster.com or the Blue Chip Gift Box. Guests must be 21 or older, with a valid state or government issued photo ID.

Fiesta Mexicana Dance Company of Northwest Indiana 6th Annual Hispanic Heritage Event - Saturday, Portage
Fiesta Mexicana Dance Company of Northwest Indiana will be presenting its 6th annual Hispanic Heritage event on Saturday, October 7 at Portage High School. The high energy show begins at 7pm and will feature the National Ballet Folklorico of Milwaukee along with internationally known mariachi singer Salvador Villanueva. Also scheduled to perform is Javier Escamilla, the Guinness Book of World Records holder for trick roping. Mr. Escamilla appeared on the Today show last summer and broke the record for most lasso Texas skips in one minute.

This Massachusetts duo has spent years hosting poetry events, coaching slam, and running social justice & arts programing. And now they're bringing their one-of-a-kind event to LCA.
