Every Day is a Super Bowl

LifeRevolution Rotator2Seems like everyone gets up for the Super Bowl, whether that be the quarterbacks, coaches, linebackers, cities, bars, home party planners, or advertisers. Everyone associated with it somehow finds a way to bring their A game to the day. Planning the right plays, thinking about training, communication, staff, visuals, equipment, supplies, and a focus among all involved that conveys discipline, teamwork, and resolve; They aren't playing this game, they are performing at this game.

They know that by number of people coming over, the number of eyeballs on their work, the amount of money, fame, or fun on the line, and the potential to come up winning on the big day naturally brings an intensity beyond whatever you've brought to things all season long. The advertisers put out their most creative work, the teams focus on every detail and responsibility that can impact success, security is fortified, and everyone involved in the media, the beer industry, those hosting the events, pizza delivery guys, and all of Super Bowl week related army in every city is prepped and ready to respond to whatever is thrown at them.

How do we take that model and bring it into our everyday business and our personal life to be able to win consistently?

Why do we bring our A game to certain moments while we only deliver a B or a C at other times?

To get to the Super Bowl requires so many people doing so many things at an A level through pre-season, practices, and a grueling season. Every one of them suffer players getting injured, guys having a bad game, thousands of individual missed plays, and countless bad coaching or on the field decisions that cost them yards, points, games, or almost the season. But they battled through the challenges, got smarter or better or both through the process, and ultimately prevailed. They have pretty different styles of owners, coaches, and quarterbacks, and employ a variety of schemes and game plans depending on their opponent and who is performing best at that moment.

So what do they do that others do not or how do they do it more often than others do?

What traits do they share that lead to their success?

What brings their players, coaches, and their support team together to be at an A level enough to win it all?

BigGameI don't know. If I did, I would be a winning Super Bowl coach, player, or owner.

I know I should be just laughing at the funny commercials, getting emotional with the horses and puppies, or simply entertained by all that is streaming at me on the screen. My mind however, goes to how did they get here, what decisions did they make that allowed them to be ready to rock it so consistently throughout the season and all its challenges, and how did those groups of people come together to perform that well as one again and again?

In our relationships, families, work, health and community, what do we need to do in order to bring our A game to whatever it is we are passionate about and involved in?

What do I need to be doing during practice to get there?

iftodayHow should I be preparing my mind, body, and team around me to deliver on the big day when every day is a big day?

As this quote and image of Steve Jobs illustrates, that kind of focus on the here and now and the opportunity that being here today brings, applies to a heck of a lot more than football.

What do you do in order to get ready for the big day?

How does your team come together?
