Thrivent Financial Raises $10,000 for New VNA Phoenix Center

Thrivent-Financial-VNAThrivent Financial Greater Valparaiso Group continues it long-held tradition of community support, raising a total of $10,000 to support the new VNA Phoenix Center. The VNA Phoenix Center, a program of the Visiting Nurse Association (VNA), provides grieving children and their families the opportunity for healing after the loss of a loved with peer group support and activities. The VNA is currently in the midst of a capital campaign to complete the center as well as provide for the first year’s program costs, with nearly $675,000 raised toward the $750,000 goal.

Thrivent guests were invited to a reception and private viewing of the work of Japanese artist Sadao Watanabe at Valparaiso University’s Brauer Museum. The exhibition included 67 Watanabe prints, the majority from the Brauer Museum's permanent collection. Thrivent Financial picked up the cost of the event in addition to matching guests’ donations to the VNA Phoenix Center dollar for dollar. At the end of the evening, representatives of the Greater Valparaiso Group presented a check totaling $10,000 to capital campaign co-chairmen Bill and Karen Higbie and VNA Executive Director Laura Harting.
