Porter Health System Hosts Stroke Survivor Support Group

Porter Health System will host a free Stroke Survivor Support Group for stroke survivors as well as their caregivers, families, and loved ones. The organizational meeting will be from 2 pm to 3:30 pm, Thursday, Sept. 29, at Porter’s Education and Rehabilitation Campus, 1401 Calumet Ave. At this time, the group will collectively decide meeting frequency and best times to meet.

While everyone’s experience is different, meeting other stroke survivors or caregivers can be helpful in guiding recovery. There are currently more than 7 million stroke survivors in this country, and nearly 800,000 new strokes each year. The Stroke Survivor Support Group hopes to promote wellness by helping members solve problems and locate local resources.
