Porter Health Care System Presents Diabetes Education Classes for August 2014

Porter-New-Hospital-Coming-SoonPorter Health Care System will present Diabetes Education classes in August. Designed to help you better manage your diabetes, Porter's American Diabetes Association approved diabetes classes are taught by certified diabetes nurse educators and dieticians who work with you one-on-one and in group settings. Studies have shown that patients who complete diabetes education had fewer hospitalizations and lower medical costs than those who receive no formal assistance.

Classes will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 5, 12, 19, and 26 at Porter’s Education and Rehabilitation Center, 1401 Calumet Ave. in Valparaiso. A fee is required.

Most insurances and Medicare cover 10 hours of diabetes education when diagnosed and two hours each year thereafter to help maintain self-management skills. To schedule a class, physician orders are required. Call 219-983-8399 for more information or to schedule a class.
