Vale Park Has Help for Pesky Flea and Tick Prevention

dogs-with-stickMoving from one season to the next, our pets face different challenges. Heat, cold, insects, holiday outfits, sun, diseases, other animals, and more are just some of the things that our pets face. During the fall two things become a prevalent risk for our pets: fleas and ticks.

Here are some preventative measures that you can take to help prevent your pet from getting fleas or ticks.

1. Brush your pet and check him or her after they go outside. Comb through their fur to make sure that none are missed.

2. Clean your house. Not only can fleas and ticks live outside, but they can live inside in floor cracks, carpets, etc.

3. Use animal safe flea and tick preventative products.

4. Wild animals can leave fleas and ticks in your yard. Put up a fence or add plants that repel those animals.

5. Keep your yard clean by keeping up with the landscaping. Mowing the lawn, removing large piles of dead leaves, trimming tree branches, and using environmentally safe insect repellent are good ideas.

6. Check yourself. All this outside work can get you into contact with ticks. Wear hats, gloves, and other proper clothing to keep the little irritants off of you and away from your pets.
