Methodist Hospitals Offering Emergency Medical Technician Training Program

rot1Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) are front line, healthcare providers. EMTs work in a variety of environments transporting patients between facilities, responding to emergency calls, working in a hospital emergency department and wherever a first-response capability is required.

Methodist Hospitals offers two training sessions each year. Applications are now being accepted for the 26 week spring session which starts Monday, February 13 and ends on Thursday, August 24, 2017. The Practical Skills exam is scheduled on Saturday, August 26, 2017. Each session meets twice weekly on Mondays and Thursdays from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Classes hold approximately 15 to 20 students. The Emergency Training (EMT) Program includes 200 didactic hours, 16 hours ambulance ride-alongs and 16 Emergency Room observation hours. At the completion of the course students will be eligible for testing for Indiana certification and to become a valued member of the pre-hospital emergency care team.

Students must be 18 years old, and available to attend all scheduled classes. The cost is $1,000. Payment plans area available, and VA Assistance eligibility is offered. The course includes all materials, including texts books and work book, stethoscope, one clinical shirt, and American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR Course.

Acceptance into the program is on a first come basis for individuals who fulfill enrollment requirements until all available position are filled. Applicants sponsored by Fire Departments or Private Ambulance Services must provide a Purchase Order at the time of registration. Tuition is non-refundable after the first class.
