FirstLight HomeCare Spends Quality Time with the Seniors at St. Agnes Center

The caregivers and staff of FirstLight HomeCare of Northwest Indiana can be seen all over the local communities helping out in one fashion or another. They may be helping a client with their daily activities or they are volunteering.

Since late 2015, FirstLight has been going to the St. Agnes Adult Day Service Center to give some of the seniors some TLC.

The St. Agnes Adult Day Service Center is a nonprofit organization with a mission to provide activities, social interaction, and professional care for body, mind, and spirit. Volunteers make a huge impact on the seniors who go there and in turn the seniors leave lasting and positive impressions on the selfless volunteers who walk through the doors of St. Agnes.

On the most recent trip to St. Agnes, FirstLight’s Danielle Web, Care Coordinator, and Tiffany Sollee, Office Assistant, give the ladies manicures and some much loved girls talk.

“We love coming here. It’s a great place to volunteer,” Webb said. “I love hearing their stories and it gives me a break in my day. There is nothing better than making the people here smile.”

Sollee was in complete agreement.

“I love volunteering,” she said. “Every time I leave here I have a smile on my face. The ladies have wonderful stories and it’s fun to talk with them and have some girl time.”

Typically, the ladies from FirstLight go to St. Agnes on the third Monday of every month as Mondays are less busy for them and the seniors. They want to be able to get as much time as they can with them.

“If you can take just a few minutes out of your day to help someone it’s totally worth it,” Sollee said.
