Renowned Author, Heart Surgeon To Speak at Go Red for Women Event

Top-2010-Health-Go-RedKathy Magliato, MD, author and heart surgeon, will be the keynote speaker at the Valpo Goes Red breakfast on national Go Red for Women day, on Feb. 4 at Valparaiso University. Magliato will share her insight into women’s heart health and her experience as one of the country’s few female heart surgeons. She is also author of Healing Hearts and the newly released Heart Matters.

We’re so excited to have such a prominent heart surgeon and author right here in Valparaiso as the entire country celebrates Go Red for Women this month,” said Jeanne Sommer, Chairman of this year’s Valpo Goes Red movement. “She’s been so good at spreading the word that heart disease is the leading killer of women, Hoosiers, and Americans overall. Learning about heart health is so valuable for all of us so we can take steps to improve our own hearts,” she said.

The Go Red event includes a heart-healthy breakfast, along with Magliato’s presentation. It will be 8 am to 10 am on Friday, Feb. 4 at Valparaiso University’s Harre Center Ballroom. Tickets are $30 or $500 for a table (with recognition for your sponsorship). Tickets must be purchased in advance and are available by calling 219-996-4958. The American Heart Association’s event is being locally presented by Saint Francis Health Services.
