Porter-Starke and HealthLinc Leaders Speak at National Conference

Two local healthcare providers were represented at the National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare’s annual Mental Health and Addiction Conference in San Diego, California on May 2, 2011. Beth Wrobel, CEO of HealthLinc and Aileen Wehren, Executive Vice President at Porter-Starke Services, shared their organizations’ experience with developing the mental health and physical health integration model designed to improve their patient’s health. Their presentation helped to inform attendees about how they could implement the model to meet the upcoming healthcare reform standards within the Affordable Care Act.

A lot of changes are happening in the healthcare arena right now and we’re proud to be ahead of the curve in the provision of care,” said Wehren.

The conference is an annual event that brings leaders in the field together to discuss emerging trends in healthcare. The keynote address was given by former President Bill Clinton. Other presentations were made by Don Berwick, Administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and Harold Urschel, author of the New York Times bestseller, Healing the Addicted Brain: The Revolutionary, Science Based Alcoholism and Addiction Recovery Program.

Since beginning in 2007, HealthLinc and Porter-Starke’s collaborative partnership has grown to allow for both organizations to meet both the physical health and behavioral health needs of its consumers. This partnership has shown positive health outcomes for both organization’s patients and is getting national attention at conferences such as the most recent National Council’s Mental Health and Addictions Conference.

We’re proud to offer exceptional care to our community,” said Wrobel. “It’s an honor for our community to also be represented alongside other notable leaders of our industry.”

The National Council of Behavioral Healthcare represents more than 1,800 mental health and addiction centers nationwide. Porter-Starke Services is a not-for-profit Community Mental Health Center serving 9,000 people annually. HealthLinc is a Federally Qualified Healthcare Center serving over 15,000 people annually.
