Assisting and Giving “HOPE” to Cancer Patients

9th-NewDay-Teddy-Bear-Concert9th Annual Teddy Bear Concert to support the NewDay Foundations efforts to provide Teddy Bears, coloring books and other items of support to comfort children starting their journey with cancer. There will be raffle prizes, 50/50 drawing, snacks and refreshments.

Music was always an important form of therapy for Connie Yagelski-Marhanka. It always comforted her in her struggles with cancer, while it uplifted and inspired the people who heard her sing like an angel. Once Connie had given her first teddy bear to a frightened cancer patient on their first day of chemotherapy, she knew that it was her purpose to use teddy bears as a means of comforting those people that were just beginning their journey. The idea of the NewDay Band was created when Connie tried to think of the best way to have a Teddy Bear Drive. She decided to organize a charity concert, for children at the children’s hospitals. She called on many of her musician friends to come and perform for the event. The first event was a huge success.

Connie was called home a short time after the very first charity concert, but we have continued the tradition in her memory. Every year, volunteer musicians join together to form the NewDay Band. They donate their time and talent so that the NewDay Foundation continues to collect their much needed items of support for the many trips to the children’s hospitals. The bands provide uplifting inspirational music that appeal to all generations. There is always something for everyone.
