Porter Expands Care to Portage Community

Improved care is the main focus of the Shoreline Surgery Center, Porter Health System’s newly renovated and expanded outpatient surgery center on its Portage campus. “The center has brought more awareness to the campus and community that we have care here,” shared Shoreline’s Director Denise Wible. “We’ve increased patient and family comfort, making for an improved outpatient experience.”

The most notable changes are the addition of a new entrance for the center and its own waiting room. “Previously patients had to share the waiting room of the Emergency Department,” Wible stated, adding that giving the center a private waiting is all a part of giving their patients the best care. Also adding to the new space is the addition of two more pre-op bays, bringing the total up to 6, and 2 new operating rooms, both double the size of the others.

The $2.5 million renovation not only brought changes to the building itself, but also to the equipment. Shoreline received all new endoscopic video equipment, along with new pre and post-op beds. The renovations have also set the path for further growth in the future, to continue “to better provide quality care to the Portage community,” said Porter CEO Jonathan Nalli.

This facility will make the quality of life better,” shared Portage Chamber Executive Director Terry Hufford, “It’s a pleasure to have Porter Health System as a platinum partner.”
