Don’t Let Knee Arthritis Limit Your Life

Knee-Arthritis-Porter-Newsletter-May-2015Why should adults with knee arthritis care about the number 6,000? That’s how many steps they should take every day to prevent mobility problems. After studying nearly 1,800 older adults, researchers at the American College of Rheumatology discovered those whose daily step count reached at least 6,000 were better able to perform routine functions such as standing up and climbing stairs. The more you walk, the greater the payoff. According to the study, every additional 1,000 steps you take can offer a 16–18 percent improvement in knee function.
