St. Catherine Hospital Opens Outpatient Wound Ostomy Clinic

chs-stockSt. Catherine Hospital Wound Ostomy Care Team has a unique approach toward care. The clinic provides a multidisciplinary treatment approach with many advanced Wound Care Certified Specialists working together on “One Team” under “One Roof.”

Patients do not have to go to multiple different sites or departments to receive care from different disciplines. During a patient’s visit to St. Catherine Hospital Wound Ostomy Clinic patients will be assigned to one of the Wound Ostomy Specialists who will coordinate care from initial consultation to discharge. Each member of the team has specialized training and a specific skill set. It is when each of these specialists work closely together with patients that optimal healing can occur.

According to Sylvia Gould, Director of Therapy Services, the team of specialists, have been specially trained to treat all types of non-healing wounds.

“Our team of physicians, nurses and physical therapists work to share their expertise to help empower patients to help heal chronic wounds,” says Gould.

St. Catherine Hospital provides comprehensive assessment, medical management and state of the art treatment and follow up care for all wound care such as pressure ulcers, wounds from poor circulation, diabetic wounds, non-healing surgical sites, infected wounds, wounds caused by lymphedema and other chronic, poorly healing wounds.
