The Visiting Nurse Association of NWI has been awarded the Strategic Healthcare Programs (SHP) Best Superior Performer award for achieving an overall patient satisfaction score that ranked in the top 20th percentile of all SHP clients during the 2016 calendar year.
The annual SHP Best program was developed to recognize home health and hospice agencies across the country that consistently provide high-quality service to their patients.
“The end of life journey is full of difficult, personal, and individual decisions for patients and their families. It is a priority of our caregivers to provide them with the care and support they need along the way,” said VNA President & CEO Ann O’Heir. “This award from SHP is evidence of the commitment of our team to provide highest quality of compassionate care that extends not only to the patient but to the patient’s loved ones as well.”
Further evidence of the high quality of care provided by the VNA of NWI can be found at the new Medicare Hospice Compare website at www.medicare.gov/hospicecompare. The website allows consumers to compare quality measurements of hospice agencies in their area in order to choose the best option for themselves or a loved one. “Those thinking about hospice for themselves or a loved one should take advantage of the Hospice Compare website to help ensure the very best of care. We are very proud that the VNA Hospice Home Care program scores so high; higher than most in every category,” said O’Heir.
SHP Best award recipients are determined by ranking the overall score for all SHP Hospice Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems clients. SHP focuses its efforts on identifying and recognizing organizations that have made high quality care and patient satisfaction a priority and have been rewarded for their efforts with high marks on the consumer survey sent to the hospice patients’ caregivers served by the agency.
