Franciscan-Health-Crown-Point-Pets-Are-Therapeutic-for-Hospital-PatientsA nearly 2-year-old Pet Therapy Program and some of its participants at Franciscan Health Crown Point took center stage as the topic at a recent Crown Point Rotary Club meeting at Youche Country Club. Program originator and coordinator Julie Canady of Crown Point, far right, shown with Mieko; explained the program’s workings and advantages to the group. The dogs are known to bring relief and comfort to inpatients and are available upon request during hospital stays.

From six dogs when the program began in December 2015, the program has expanded to 28, all of which are certified for participation. Also shown are Corey and Charolette Liss of Crown Point and Knox. Corey Liss also is the incoming Rotary president. For more information on the program, call Canady at (219) 661-3299.
