Franciscan Health: Hammond FD wins Battle of the Medics

Franciscan-Health-Hammond-FD-wins-Battle-of-the-MedicsTo celebrate Emergency Medical Services Week recently, Franciscan Health Dyer, Hammond and Munster hosted a picnic and the third-annual Battle of the Medics competition on separate days at the campuses. The five-station competition offers three categories: best individual paramedic time, best individual EMT time and best average agency time.

Ed Wagner of the Hammond Fire Department (pictured with the medal and holding the trophy) won the best individual paramedic time of 2:22 seconds. Shown with him, from left, are assistant chief Jeff Marsack and deputy chief Kevin Margraf. Emily Albee of Superior Ambulance Service won the best individual time for an EMT with a time of 2:41. The best average time was achieved by the Hammond Fire Department at 2:48. Hammond will keep possession of the traveling trophy for the year. There were 20 total participants; 12 EMTs and eight paramedics.
