Purdue University Northwest

Boundless-by-Boyan-Hammond-CampusInaugural tours of significant new works of art at the Purdue University Northwest Hammond Campus will be offered to the community Saturday, March 25. The tours are open to the public and free of charge.

Tours will start at the Welcome Center, located on the first floor of the Student Union & Library, (SUL), 2233 173rd St. The first tour of the day will be from 11 a.m. to noon; a second tour is scheduled from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Reservations are not necessary, but space is limited. Early arrival is recommended.

Tours will focus on artwork in the Student Union & Library and the new sculpture path visible from the building. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet a number of the artists during a reception in the Room with a View of the SUL. Refreshments will be provided.

Woman-with-a-Hat-Hammond-CampusSponsored by the University’s Building Community Through the Arts Committee, in conjunction with the PNW Odyssey Arts Events series, the tours will feature both contemporary paintings and sculptures. The majority of these works were acquired recently through generous gifts. Tours will be led by Judy Jacobi, assistant vice chancellor of University Art Collections & Special Programs.

“Guests should expect to be highly entertained through observation, informal interaction and ‘backstories’ of the artists and the creative challenges they faced—always compelling and sometimes comical,” Jacobi said.
