Free Legal Help Offered at Valparaiso University

The Law Clinic at the Valparaiso University Law School, which provides free legal representation to individuals with limited income, is now accepting new cases.

The Law Clinic represents low-income residents of the region in matters such as debt collection defense, consumer issues, landlord/tenant disputes, guardianships, adoptions, and tax concerns involving the Internal Revenue Service. Clients must meet income eligibility guidelines.

The clinic's legal services are provided by Valparaiso law students, who receive first-hand legal experience by representing financially disadvantaged clients. Students work under the supervision of law school faculty.

The Law Clinic is located in the new Heritage Hall building at 510 Freeman Street (at the intersection of Freeman Street and College Avenue). For more information or to determine eligibility for assistance, call (219) 465-7903.

Since 1965, the Valparaiso Law Clinic has offered critical legal services to thousands of qualifying residents of Northwest Indiana. Approximately 700 people received assistance during the past year.
