“He who hesitates is lost.” I first heard that phrase from my 9th grade track coach as I was practicing the high hurdles. Low hurdles were easy, but this was a new venture for me. As I approached the first hurdle with trepidation, I pulled back at the last moment…with disastrous results!

So it is with financial decisions, such as purchasing a home or refinancing your current mortgage. What are some reasons potential homebuyers and current homeowners hesitate?

Anthony Kuk has joined the Ports of Indiana as port director for the Port of Indiana-Burns Harbor located in Portage, Ind. Kuk (pronounced "Cook") has been serving as general manager for Nexeo Solutions' Midwest operations, based in Chicago. Kuk will replace Peter Laman, who is planning to move back to his hometown in Michigan after a transition period. Kuk will start May 14.

"We're sorry to see Pete leave us but we're very pleased to have someone of Anthony's caliber to lead our efforts on the Great Lakes," said Rich Cooper, CEO for the Ports of Indiana. "Anthony's operational management and global logistics experience with a major industrial company make him a great fit for this role. We greatly appreciate everything Pete has done for the port in the last four years and we wish him the very best."

With the recent emphasis on flexible scheduling in the American workplace, many workers — at different levels — are now afforded the opportunity to work from home at times. However, if you’re like me, the few times I’ve actually done this, I didn’t make it out of my flannel pajama pants. We all dread Monday's sometimes. Back to work for many, school for lots of people, and a general mood of Monday's are a day to get going because you need to, versus eagerly anticipating waking up and having an awesome day doing something fun.

Due to some twisted genetics, my balance of optimistic the world is a happy place so let's think on the bright side, Monday's are like Fridays are for many. My Irish crazy loving mom give me my love for Fridays, and the thought that the weekend and all of it's opportunity for renewal is upon you. Saturdays and Sundays are pretty awesome waking up and spending time with some of my family somehow. The soul food of the week days. Mondays offer a different kind of joy though for me.

I love what I do, so I naturally like to get back to work at it. And Monday is full of the potential to work at what you love, and love what you do.
