CLEA Expo Hits the Ground Running…and Cycling…and Boating…and Dancing…

CLEAAs great weather breaks and the summer is in full gear, Cedar Lake proudly hosts the First Annual CLEA Expo, this July 30th and 31st. CLEA will be a 2-Day Event highlighted with a 5K Fun Run & a 15-mile cycling event.

The CLEA Expo may be the greenest cause since St. Patrick’s Day. CLEA 2011 will be a 2-day event filled with vendors, local cuisine, and live music. The activities are highlighted with a 5K Fun Run and 15-mile cycling event. CLEA is an acronym for: Cedar Lake Enhancement Association. (www.cleaexpo.com)

The goal of this 1st Annual CLEA Expo is to make a statement and to raise awareness:

  • The statement is one of positive change in demographics and economic growth within Cedar Lake.
  • Awareness of restoring Cedar Lake’s grand majesty and CLEA’s role in cleaning the Lake.
  • Welcome everyone to a good time with sporting events; local food vendors; expanded beer tent; and outstanding live music such as a Gone To Paradise, a Jimmy Buffet cover band and Nicole Jamrose

Cedar Lake is a natural fitness center and has become the popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts of all types. Runners, Cyclists, Kayaking and boat enthusiasts are now routinely arriving to Cedar Lake to engage their active lifestyle. Cedar Lake is turning the tide and sponsors want to get in front of the trend. They share the vision for Cedar Lake and are not only financially invested, but personally as well. The partners for the 2011 CLEA are:

Trek Bikes of Schererville will sponsor a 15-mile bike ride and Fleet Feet Sports will be sponsoring a 5K Fun Run and 1 Mile Walk. Subaru of Merrillville the Official CLEA 5K & 15-Mile Cycling Event Sponsor and will supply the Official Pace Car for both events.

About CLEA: The Cedar Lake Enhancement Association (CLEA) was founded as a non-profit grassroots organization in 1994 dedicated towards improving the water quality of Cedar Lake and the nearby watershed. The improvement of the Cedar Lake area ecosystem including the 206 Aquatic Ecosystem Restoration Project, which will improve water clarity, store native plants, and improve fishing. Some of the past projects completed by CLEA have included: Construction of Wetlands, Bank Stabilization on the 5 major inlets, and many beautification projects around the lake and community.
