Lakeshore Public Television & Radio welcomed Nutrition Leader Zonya Foco as keynote speaker for the eighth annual Speaking of Women’s Health® Conference. The sold-out event returned to Merrillville on Thursday, May 21 at the Radisson Hotel at Star Plaza.
Foco addressed the Conference’s 900+ attendees at the event’s Morning Keynote Presentation, 8:25 – 8:40 a.m. at Star Plaza Theatre, speaking to “The Power of One Good Habit.” The Morning Keynote Presentation was sponsored by US Steel Gary Works.
Zonya Foco, “America’s Nutrition Leader,” is a master of inspiration, motivation and visual humor, providing hard-facts information and simple solutions that help everyday people improve health, create balance and maximize energy. The registered dietitian and professional speaker reaches millions of people each year as host of her own television series, Zonya’s Health Bites, airing on public television stations across the country, as author of the best-selling cookbook, Lickety-Split Meals for Health Conscious People on the Go! and as co-author of America’s first weight-loss novel, Water with Lemon. Zonya is also a guest presenter and nutritionist for “Oprah & Bob’s Best Life Challenge” and partners with Health Alliance Plan (HAP) of Michigan to develop and present its award-winning Weight Wise member programs. Foco is also the only Registered Dietitian (RD) and Certified Health and Fitness Instructor (CHFI) in the country to have earned the prestigious Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) designation.
The Speaking of Women’s Health® Conference is a day-long annual event aimed at helping women make informed decisions about health, well-being and personal safety for themselves and their families. More than 900 attendees spent May 21st being “edu-tained” and “em-pampered,” as they learned about total wellness, from health screenings to financial security; from decorating to dietary tips and exercise innovations.
Speaking of Women’s Health® is Lakeshore Public Television’s most influential and celebrated fundraiser. Not only does the conference allow the station to raise necessary operating funds, it provides the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of women in the region.
