Whatever It Takes Champions – January 2024

Life Care Centers of America's Whatever it Takes Champions program honors associates who go beyond their job descriptions in caring for our skilled nursing patients and long-term care residents, their families and fellow associates. Here are four of the inspiring stories from our recent winners. These associates are certainly Champions of Care!

Terra Haislip, Certified Medication Aide at Life Care Center of Seneca

Terra took personal time to help a resident stay connected with his family and friends. This resident, who is a quadriplegic, had just gotten a new, specialized phone and needed assistance setting up the apps that enable him to communicate. Terra helped him through the process with patience and attentiveness.

Thanks for being there for our residents, Terra!

Nakeah Sheaffer, Admissions Assistant at Life Care Center of South Hill

Nakeah is devoted to providing families of residents and patients with support, guidance and assurance. And it shows! Here is a what the family member of a recent short-term therapy patient had to say about Nakeah:

“When I entered the building in December to look at rehab facilities for my father, I was greeted by Nakeah Sheaffer. She was a wonderful tour guide and so helpful answering all of my questions (and I had a LOT of them!). She told me all about the facility and its benefits.

“She made me feel so comfortable, and I knew my dad, Karl, would feel the same. Because of my experience with Nakeah, I knew Life Care Center of South Hill was the best place for my dad. Thanks to Nakeah, the decision was easy! My dad has been at Life Care for a while now, and it definitely was the right decision! They have an amazing team!”

Crispina Guilford, Staffing Coordinator at Life Care Center of Tullahoma

Crispina came to the rescue for several of her colleagues during a recent snow storm. These associates had vehicles unfit for extreme weather and couldn’t make it safely to their shifts.

So, Crispina picked them all up in her weather-appropriate truck and drove them to work. Because of Crispina, these associates could continue providing our patients and residents with the care and attention they need and deserve.

Thanks for your generosity and team spirit, Crispina!

Mimi Flava, Certified Nursing Assistant at Life Care Center of Reno

Mimi makes such an impact on our patients and residents that some of them take the time to nominate her for the Whatever It Takes award! Here is what one resident had to say about Mimi and the exceptional care she delivers:

“I nominate Mimi Fava because she's kind, considerate and compassionate. She goes the extra mile to take care of me and probably everybody else. She's an asset to the company.”
