VU's Three Point Baskets Provide Funding for Youth Programs

valpo-university-bball.jpgEach fall, Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County and Valparaiso University Men’s Crusaders Basketball team partner to make a difference in the lives of the youth in Porter Count through the Nothing But Net Three-Point Sponsorship Program which provides that each time the Crusaders score a three-point basket during the 2011-2012 men’s basketball season, four local businesses will donate $20 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County. The 2011-2012 community organization’s supporting this year’s Nothing But Net program are Grieger’s, Urschel Laboratories, Realty Executives Premier and Lakeside Wealth Management Group.

Each year, this community partnership continues to help Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County deliver essential youth development programs to almost 5,000 boys and girls who attend one of the four clubs located in Valparaiso, Portage, South Haven and Chesterton or one of the KIDSTOP before and after child care locations located in ten elementary schools throughout Porter County.

The Boys & Girls Club of Porter County is a non-profit organization which provides children ages 5 to 18 with quality programming emphasizing character and leadership, education and career development; community service; technology training; financial literacy; health and life skills; the arts; sports, fitness and recreation; and family outreach.

This year marks the 40th Anniversary of Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County which operates facilities in Valparaiso, South Haven, Duneland and Portage.
