Porter Health System's Cardiac & Vascular Institute Presents The 8th Annual Sleighbell 5K Run/Walk

To promote wellness and healthy living, Porter Health System’s Cardiac & Vascular Institute will sponsor the 8th Annual Sleighbell 5K Run/Walk at 9 am, Saturday, Dec. 5, at Westchester Intermediate School, 1050 South 5th St., Chesterton.

The entry fee for the 5K Run is $18 and $16 for the non-competitive 5K Walk. Early registration, which includes participants receiving a long sleeve T-shirt, will end on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009. Late registration of $20 will be accepted until race day.

Race applications may be found on the Porter website, www.porterhealth.com, displayed in the main lobby of Valparaiso Hospital Campus, Portage Hospital Campus, and Valparaiso Outpatient Campus, or by calling Porter’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Department at 219.263.4629.

Participants and volunteers are asked to bring one canned good for donation to a local food pantry. All proceeds from the race benefit food pantries throughout Porter County.

According to Patty Neely, the supervisor of Porter’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Department, the Sleighbell 5K Run/Walk has attracted upwards of 300 runners and walkers from across Northwest Indiana in years past.
