The Purdue Boilermakers held off a tough St. Joseph’s team in the first half and took care of business in the second half as they defeated the St. Josephs Hawks 85-60 in the Paradise Jam tournament at St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.

JaJuan Johnson led the Boilers with a double-double, as he recorded 18 points and ten rebounds in just 28 minutes of play. Freshman Ryne Smith was seven for seven at the free throw line and scored 16 points for Purdue in only 15 minutes. Robbie Hummel filled out the stat sheet with nine points, nine rebounds, three assists, and two steals in 25 minutes.

The Boilers held the Hawks’ offense in check, especially during the second half. St. Joseph’s only had one player in double-digit scoring: Garrett Williamson, who scored 12 points in the contest.

The #7/7 Boilers will face off against the #10/11 Tennessee Volunteers on Monday night at 8:30 pm ET.
