Emily Owen, a 7th grade student at Ben Franklin Middle School and member of the Builders Club, was selected as a recipient of a $500 Student All Star Grant. For the fourth consecutive year, the Indianapolis Colts and Grange Insurance teamed up for the Student All Star Grant Program. This program gives Indiana youth the opportunity to make their community a better place. To be eligible, all applicants were required to partner with a 501 (c) 3 organization to complete a student-initiated community service project.

Partnering with Pines Village Retirement Communities, Emily will lead the Ben Franklin’s Builders Club landscaping project to “Build up and Beautify Pines Village’s Courtyard” for the residents to enjoy the outdoors and fresh air. The Builders Club will be collaborating with the Pines Village resident’s committee to design, organize and complete the courtyard landscaping to be enjoyed by residents for years to come.

Pines Village Retirement Communities is a not for profit organization that has been celebrating the lives of older adults since 1983 and is involved in numerous intergenerational projects that keep older adults independent, active and involved in our community.
