Dravininkas and Glendale Neighborhoods Food Drive

Written by Banta Feeds Relations

Banta Feeds Volunteers Even in the scorching July heat, Banta Feeds volunteers will continue on their mission to bring Valparaiso neighborhoods together for our neighbors in need. Banta Feeds will be hosting our first dual neighborhood food drive with two Valparaiso neighborhoods that are located right next to each other.

The Dravininkas and Glendale Neighborhoods Food Drive will take place from July 28-31. The Dravininkas neighborhood is located between Fisher Street and Glendale Boulevard from the north to south, and from Campbell Street to Linden Drive from the west to east. The Dravininkas area also consists of Northcrest, North Orchard Acres and Winslow Close, which are smaller subdivides that are nestled in the neighborhood.

The Glendale neighborhood is located between the ends of Shannon, Dorset and Camilla Drives to Glendale Boulevard from the north to south. From the west to east, it reaches from Linden Drive to Valparaiso Street. This portion of the area also consists of smaller subdivides, which are the Glendale Garden and Lindsey's Add areas.

All residents of the Dravininkas and Glendale neighborhoods are asked to donate at least one non-perishable food item to the drive, and if they can donate more it would be greatly appreciated. These neighborhoods are being challenged to beat the reigning Valparaiso food drive champion--the Forest Park neighborhood. They donated 78 bags of food in November of last year, and Banta Feeds believes that if these two neighborhoods work as a team together, they can take the crown.

In continuation with our partnership with the Valparaiso Department of Parks & Recreation, the blue Banta Feeds donation container will be located at Berkley Park. This park is on the east end of Sheffield Drive. The container will be available for donation drop-offs between the hours of 9a.m.-6p.m., and will be emptied regularly.

Banta Feeds will also be partnering with Valparaiso resident Richard Marrell of Marramgrass Studios. He is hosting the Artist's Row Fest event. It will be an eclectic exhibition of local artists and musicians, featuring photography, stained-glass, vintage house wares, jewelry and handwriting analysis to add a spark. The public is invited to attend, and also asked to bring a non-perishable food donation for Banta Feeds. It will be taking place on Saturday, July 31 from noon-9p.m. at 906 Washington Street in Valparaiso.
