Steelers Install New-Look Coaches, Looking for Coaches and Players this Saturday

This year the Steelers have Old Faces in New Places.

This Season will be the first season the Lake County Steelers have a new Head Coach.

Bob Crowder is the Owner and CEO of the Lake County Steelers. He has been since 1999 when he first started up the team When they played in Merriville. Since then the team has played in Hammond, Crown Point, Hobart and for the 3rd season in a row, the Steelers are playing at Willowcreek Middle School on Trumbull Field.

Coach Crowder was the Head Coach for the 12 years as the Steelers played in the MidStates Football League then the Chicago Football League and then returning to the MidStates. Each year Coach Crowder would start from scratch and build his team up starting with his Coaching Staff. At this level of Football, finding Coaches can be as difficult as finding Offensive Lineman.

This year, Cowder has decided to step away from the Coaching aspect of the game to concentrate on spending time with his family as well as his other hobbies (Bee Keeping, Umpiring Little League and in the fall Santa Bob).

This year the Steelers will be lead by Coach Don Gambrel. This will be Coach Gambrels first Head Coaching position at this level but brings over 10 years of coaching with 5 years as the Head JV Coach of the South Central Sattelites.

Coach Gambrel has also Coached 5 years with the Steelers and also played 3 years with the Steelers (Played with the Delta Dragons Columbus GA, 3rd Herd Sparta Wis, Indiana Titans Galien MI and the Chicago Thunder IL).

After securing the Head Coaches Spot, Crowder then went on to pick his Coordinators.

Leading the Steelers Offense this year is Incenico Ramos Jr. This will be Coach Ramos's 3rd season with the Steelers and 1st full season as the Offensive Coordinator. Coach Ramos has previous coaching experience with both Florida Pop Warner teams as well as High School Coaching experience.

Running the Steeler Defense this year is Ken Sperry. Coach Sperry is entering his first year of Coaching, having played 12 years with the Steelers and played with the Gary Golden Bears before signing with the Steelers. Last Season, Coach Sperry made the MSFL All League Team.

Rounding up the Steeler Coaching Staff is Coach Thomas who will be over all the lineman will be assisted by Levi Hepp with the Offensive Lineman and Russel Pack who will be working with the Defensive Line. Both Hepp and Pack played line for the Steelers and Hepp was the first Lake County Steeler to be named All-American.

Helping out with the Special Teams, is Jeff Hepp as the Special Teams Coordinator and is also the teams Equipment Manager. The Steelers are currently looking for a Special Teams Coordinator for the upcoming season.
