Northwest Indiana Oilmen Face Off Against U.S. Military All-Stars in Charity Game

nwi-oilmenOn Sunday July 1st, the Northwest Indiana Oilmen play host to the U.S. Military All-Stars. This stop in Whiting is part of the barnstorming "Red, White & Blue Tour" featuring the only "joint" armed forces baseball team in the world. They will be here for a very important MISSION: “To Promote Awareness and Support for Troops and our Wounded Warriors.”

Established in Pensacola, Florida at the request of President H. W. Bush in 1990, the U.S. Military All- Stars, with the majority of their players having either served or ready for overseas deployment, have earned a reputation as the "Globetrotters of Baseball" performing in 45 states and 12 countries. Over 25,000 men and women serving on active duty, the Reserve, National Guard, Wounded Warriors, amputees and veterans have suited to play for the Military All-Stars.”

With a success rate of winning more than 70% of their games, the U.S. Military All-Stars will present a challenge that the 13-3 Oilmen team will be eager to meet. No matter the outcome, the entire Oilmen organization and the City of Whiting is pleased to be a part of this worthy cause, and looks forward to helping raise funds for the U.S. Military All-Stars Wounded Warrior Program. Gates open at 4:30 PM, with the first pitch at 6:10 PM.”

The Northwest Indiana Oilmen, one of eight teams in the 3-year-old Midwest Collegiate League, a preminor league summer wood-bat baseball league with teams ranging throughout the Central Midwest, including Rockford, DeKalb County, Will County and the Chicago Southland.”
