From October 1 - 7 we highlighted the performance of four of our student-athletes and asked you to vote for a winner.
With 55.2% of the record 11,964 votes, you have named RedHawk Volleyball player Petra Faught as our Indiana University Northwest Rising RedHawk of the Month for September!
Petra is a 5'9" junior middle hitter from Hammond, IN by way of Morton High School. She has played in 20 matches and is third on the team with 44 kills, second in blocks with 47 and has recorded 65 digs. Wearing #29 on the court, Petra is one of the three team captains for the Lady RedHawks this season. Throughout the month of September, Petra has proved to be a versatile player for the new coaching staff. She has played multiple positions as the young program battled to navigate through the first month of the difficult season, only capturing two victories.
Petra is as intense as they come on the court, stepping up early as the RedHawks emotional leader. She brings her passion to the game and encourages her teammates to do the same each night. Petra and her teammates are full of heart and determination, as they continue to fight each night against what is usually the more experienced teams. The RedHawk Volleyball Program is just beginning to build their own tradition on campus and we expect a bright future from this group of young women.
This is Petra's first nomination for the Rising RedHawk Award and she is the first IU Northwest Volleyball Student-Athlete to earn this title!

This award is voted on by fans through an interactive web poll on the IU Northwest Athletics home page at www.iunredhawkathletics.com. Each month of the season, at least four student-athletes will be nominated for the title of Rising RedHawk as we continue to highlight the performances of our young men and women.
