IU Northwest’s Theriault, Dexter and Grubl Honored as 2013-14 Daktronics-NAIA DII Basketball Scholar-Athletes

theriault dexter GrubThe National Association of the Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced Monday that IU Northwest's Rebecca Theriault, Justin Dexter and Brandon Grubl were amongst 243 Division II women’s basketball student-athletes and the 134 Division II men’s basketball student-athletes that have been named 2013-14 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. In order to be nominated a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.

Theriault a senior guard from Orland Park, IL is an elementary/special education major and carries perfect 4.0GPA. Theriault started all 32 games this season for 23-9 RedHawks who captured the A.I.I. Regular Season Conference Title and advanced to the A.I.I. Tournament Championship Game.

Dexter a junior forward and team captain from Demotte, IN is a criminal justice major and carries a remarkable 3.98GPA. Dexter played in 28 games this season and has been a solid contributor to the program for the last three seasons.

Grubl a junior guard from Valparaiso, IN is an elementary education major and carries an outstanding 3.78GPA. Grubl started 21 games and played in all 29 games for the RedHawks this season. Grubl led the team in scoring, assists, steals and minutes played.
